Upcoming Reminders and/or Events:

  • Trail Walk is on Wednesday this week from 8:50-9:20am. Families are welcome to join us!
  • Important Note from LEPAC: Coupon Books have been sent home. This is a valuable school fundraiser. Please note the book MUST be returned if you are not buying it. It is not a free sample. If not returned we will request payment.
  • Great ShakeOut is on Thursday this week. Lochside will be participating in a full earthquake drill from 10-11am.

What are we working on in class?

  • Spelling: Review Week!
  • Math: We continue to work on building larger numbers in many different ways - place value, word form, standard form, base ten model, and expanded form.
  • Writing: Expert writers follow their plan to write a rough draft. We are following our story mountain and have begun to write out our stories. We are thinking of each part like a scene.
  • Gym: For the month of October we'll be working on soccer skills. So far we have worked on dribbling, passing, and shooting. This week we will work on goal tending.
  • Social Studies: Lochside intermediate students will be participating in the Student Vote gearing up for the Federal Election on Wednesday. We will be researching the Saanich South riding and learning about the candidates in preparation for the Student Vote.
  • Reading: With Ms. Ammaturo we will be learning about the different genres that we may come across as readers. Knowing the genres will help us learn about which books we enjoy reading.
  • Tech Thursdays: This week we will continue to work on our Digital Passport, practising skills and talking about important issues when online.
  • Social/Emotional Learning: A couple of weeks ago Mrs. O'Leary and Mrs. Fedrigo reviewed the Zones of Regulation. This week we are discussing tools that we can use when we are mad, frustrated, tired, etc. to get us ready to learn.
  • Science: Ms. Ammaturo is beginning to teach us about matter - solids, liquids, and gas.
