Upcoming Reminders and/or Events:
- Trail Walk on Wednesday. Parents are welcome to join us from 8:50-9:20am.
- Matchbox activities are happening this week and next. Please help your child remember which day they signed up to present.
Here's what we're up to in class:
- Math: We are building our toolkit with different methods for solving multiplication problems with larger numbers. Ask your child to show you the methods we have been focusing on this week.
- Writing Studio: This week we continue to work on typing our fantasy story by adding rising action, building tension, and writing descriptively.
- Reading Studio: During reading studio we will be focusing on reading our book for the literature book study on immigration and diversity. We will be focusing on strategies to respond to literature.
- Gym: We will be starting our basketball tournament this week. On Tuesday students will choose a team name. Ask your child which team they are playing on.
- Interdisciplinary Study: Our literature circles will be starting on our books this week. Before students attend their book meeting, they need to complete a journal entry by choosing a quote from the book and writing a response through a connection and reflection to their own life and how it relates to the topic of immigration and diversity. In Social Studies we will be learning about how immigration played a role in shaping BC. We will be exploring the gold rush this week both in the Caribou and the Fraser River gold rush.
