Upcoming Reminders and/or Events:

  • Trail Walk is on Wednesday. Parents are welcome to join us, 8:45-9:30am. This week we will do a short walk to Outerbridge Park as Grade 5s need to be back at Lochside ready for ROMS at 9:15am.
  • On Wednesday Grade 5 students will be going by bus with some Lochside teachers to ROMS for a tour from 9:15-11:15am.
  • NID on Friday. No students in session. This is our final NID of the year.
  • Tomorrow a notice about our final Grade 5 camp funds will be going home. After the fundraising, just another $23 is needed to add to the first instalment of $115. The fundraising team raised about $85 per student for camp!  A huge thank you to families who supported the fundraising efforts.

Math: We continue with division this week, building our tool kit to work with a variety of larger numbers in division. We have been focusing on thinking and understanding the processes of division. It is tough work!

Gym: This week we continue volleyball. This week we will add bumping skills along with setting, which we worked on last week.

Reading Studio: This week as we read we are trying to connect our stories to the themes we have discussed.

Science: This week we are looking at the differences between habitats, ecosystems, and biomes. We learned that an ecosystem is living and non-living things working together as a community. This week we'll be diving into that concept and look at how energy transfers through ecosystems through food webs. We'll be discussing producers, consumers, and decomposers. Science is full of interesting facts!
