Upcoming Reminders and/or Events:
- Trail Walk is on Wednesday. Parents are welcome to join us, 8:45-9:30am.
- Class photos are coming home this week. Note: Lifetouch did not include the cardboard frames this year.
Math: We continue with division this week, building our tool kit to work with a variety of larger numbers in division. This week we are focusing on division as repeated subtraction using a number line. We will also practice division with the distributive principle as well as decomposing numbers.
Gym: This week we are starting volleyball. We will be learning the ready position and beginning with the overhead pass (set). On Friday we are looking forward to a special 'Rocks and Rings' gym class with special guests.
Reading Studio: Today we looked at 2 themes: acceptance and cooperation. We will also be introduced to courage, perseverance, compassion, honesty, kindness, and loyalty. For each we have a class discussion trying to link these themes to books we have read.
Science: This week we continue our exploration of how living things sense/respond to their environment. We joined in a class discussion about how humans sense and respond and then chose a living thing in our environment to see how plants, insects, and flowers might sense and respond. We will read two Roy Henry Vickers books about the risks to living things and respond through art. We will finish up the week looking at how animals use echolocation to sense and respond.
