Upcoming Reminders and/or Events:

  • Thank you for all the delicious food that was prepared for our potluck party last week. We enjoyed the varieties and trying some new foods!
  • Trail Walk is on Wednesday. Parents are welcome to join us, 8:45-9:30am.
  • No school for students on Friday. Lochside staff will be attending some professional development in the morning at Bayside on spirals of inquiry. The afternoon will be spent on building some goals for the next school year at Lochside.

Math: We are starting division this week. Today we wondered how multiplication and division are related. We looked at arrays and shared a number talk on the relationship. We also played a grid game on arrays. Ask your child to show you how to play at home. We continue our exploration on division and looking at how it is connected to subtraction later in the week.


Gym: This week will be a games week!


Reading Studio: Today we updated our reading log and set some goals for the final term. This week students will be introduced to theme in literature. We will look at different books and the message(s) the author is trying to share.


Writing Studio: Earth Day is coming up this Sunday. This week we are working on a paragraph on our ideal future earth. Our paragraph begins with a bold beginning, includes a mighty middle with ideas and details, and closes with an excellent ending. We will edit and revise our paragraph before finishing.


Music: This week we have a special guest music teacher, Milton Randall. Mr. Randall will be bringing in hand drums and will be workshopping with students. This will be an amazing experience for students.


Science: We are finishing up term three focusing on Science. We will be learning about how living things sense and respond to their environment as well as learn about biomes. This week we will have a scavenger hunt outside for living and non-living things on our property and think about how humans and animals are interrelated.
