Important Dates and/or Reminders
- Thank you, parents, for bringing the bikes for the bike rodeo today. Almost everyone had good bikes and helmets ready for your bike trip. Our permission forms for the end of year will be going home this week. My plan is to bike on the Lochside Trail to Michell Farms and back. It is about a 16km ride and totally flat. We would stop for regular breaks, bring a backpack with our lunches and water bottles, and some $ to stop for an ice cream at Mattick's on the way home. We will be going Monday, June 19th, weather permitting. We can set back-up dates for the following days (June 20th and June 21st) if needed.
- Our District Track Meet is on Tuesday, June 6th, tomorrow. As noted in the permission forms, students are to arrange their own transportation to/from UVic. Our coaches will be there to meet you: Ms. Seabrooke, Ms. Smith, and Mr. O'Connor. Students need to bring: hat, sunscreen, healthy snacks, water bottle, and a lunch. I will be remaining at Lochside with the Grade 4/5 students who will not be participating.

Reading Studio
- Many students have completed their matchbook summaries. There are a few finishing up their reading and summaries. Some are finishing up their folders this week.
Math
- We are finishing up our measurement unit this week, looking at area and perimeter.
Science
- We are starting our final class project: building an arcade out of cardboard! We are following the design process. Today we ASKED: What kind of arcade game will I build out of cardboard, using simple machines? Next we IMAGINED an arcade game and started to PLAN our game. On Wednesday we will start to CREATE. Late next week we will try our games to make sure they work and look for ways to IMPROVE it and REPORT back on our success.
- WE NEED CARDBOARD! Any size, send it in! We are in need of larger boxes.
Gym
- Games week!
Music
- Lochside is having a Fine Arts assembly on Friday, June 16th at 9:00am. Our class will be performing one song on our ukuleles for that assembly. Hope you can make it!
