Dear Lochside families,

There’s a lot of information to share this week, so please read on:

Do you have a Thrifty Foods Smile Card in your purse or wallet? Please consider loading your card and using it regularly!  We can earn up to $3000 through the Smile Card program this year, but have only earned $600 so far.  These funds will be used for technology items in the school such as tablets and smart boards.  If you have a card from a previous school year, you can continue using it and supporting Lochside students!

A reminder of the Parent Information Night on February 16th beginning at 6:30pm in the library. The topic is ‘Electronic Media and Young Children: Positive and Negative Effects on Development', presented by Dr. Ulrich Mueller.  See the link for more details. Seating is limited, so reserve your space now using our sign up form.

Clean out your closets and donate any new and gently used handbags, scarves and jewelry to help Childhood Cancer Research. Team 4 Hope is looking for donations until February 17. A donation bin will be located at the Front Office. Your donations will help local families whose children are diagnosed with cancer. Follow the link for more information.  Thank You!

We will be holding a children’s used clothing sale in early March so please consider saving your children's gently used clothing to donate to the sale. More information will be coming soon.

Staff Appreciation week is coming up in the spring.  Each year, parent volunteers, led by our LEPAC Co-President Stephanie, pull together an amazing week of appreciation for our teachers and staff.  If you are interested in helping this year, please contact Stephanie.

The TC 10k and Thrifty Foods Family Run will take place on April 30th and registration has now opened. Follow the link for more information and to register.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada are offering parenting programs including “Parenting Without Power Struggles” and “Parents in the Know”.  Follow this link for dates and registration information.

The 2017 Vancouver Island Parent Conference takes place on February 25th at Royal Bay Secondary School.  This year’s topic is 'Lets Talk: Sex, Brains, Letting Go and Connecting'. More information can be found on-line.

Please see the attached flyer for Lakehill baseball and softball for the upcoming season, which begins in April.

Have a great week!
