Dear Lochside families,

Another year has officially begun at Lochside Elementary School!  We hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer; we are looking forward to a great year ahead!

In order to communicate with Lochside families, weekly updates are posted and sent out by email on Sunday nights.  These updates allow us to share information about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.  Please read on for this week’s update:

Volunteers Needed

Classroom representatives work with the classroom teacher and LEPAC to share information with parents in their individual classrooms.  This is a vital role and we are hoping for 2 reps per classroom.  For more information and to sign up to be a rep for your child’s class, please see our on-line sign up form

We are looking for volunteers to help with Morning Watch.  Morning Watch volunteers complete phone checks to confirm that students have arrived safely at school. We currently have three very dedicated volunteers who manage this important program, but we are in desperate need of more help to keep this going.  Please email lochsidemom@gmail.com if you can help in any way.

We are also  looking for some help with monthly popcorn duties.  This role helps make and deliver popcorn to classrooms one day per month.  If you are interested, please contact lepacvolunteers@gmail.com.

Upcoming Events

Come visit our PAC table at the Kindergarten doors on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. This is a great chance to ask questions, learn about our newsletter and health initiatives, as well as buy a school T-shirt! Come by and say hi at drop-off or pick-up.

Our first LEPAC monthly meeting will take place on September 21st, beginning at 6pm in the staffroom.  These meetings are a great opportunity to learn about what’s going on at the school.  All are welcome to attend.

Thank You’s

A big thank you to Reet and Neil Dangerfield for securing a new freezer for our school!  Not only picking up and delivering the new freezer, but picking up and discarding our old one as well.

Thank you to Jeff Thom for providing maintenance and repairs to LEPAC's BBQ over the summer!  We will be in good shape for Lochside events this coming year!  We have also purchased a new BBQ and want to extend our appreciation to Trish Jackson and Jeff Thom for offering to assemble LEPAC's it.

Thank you to everyone who came by the welcome coffee and muffin table on the first day of school and to Mary B. and Kerry W. for organizing.

Also, a thank you to Sandy and Don R., Mary-Anne B. And Joanne F. for keeping up our courtyard maintenance.

Have a great week!
