Classroom News:
Literacy: We will be doing some gingerbread activities this week. We will be reading different versions of the Gingerbread Man, compare/contrast them, and decide which one we liked best. We will focus on what happened in the beginning, middle, and end of each story. We will be doing some writing this week for a special project we are working on. We will also be following directions and working together to make a gingerbread cake. Please let me know if your child has food allergies/sensitivities that I need to be aware of for this activity. The ingredients are sugar, butter, molasses, egg, flour, ginger, baking soda, ground nutmeg, salt, ground cloves, and milk.
Numeracy: We continue our countdown to Christmas by taking a loop off each day. These will be going home on Friday to finish the countdown. We have a new centers with pattern blocks. The challenge is to build a festive picture with the blocks while following a pattern. The children will be bringing home a Christmas Counting book that they made this week. Ask your child to read it to you. We are practicing looking at picture clues to help us read as well as looking at the beginning letter and thinking about the sound it makes.
Art: We have been working on a few special projects that will be coming home on Friday. We are learning to work carefully and use our hands to create with paint, paper, and dough.
