Upcoming Reminders and/or Events:
- Trail Walk is on Wednesday this week. We will be going later in the day to accommodate our ADST/ITA tool cart project this week.
- No school for all on Monday, May 20th. Happy Victoria Day!
- Next week is Camp Lochside and Camp Thunderbird. Permission forms went home last week for the Grade 4s activities. Thank you parents for sending the forms and money so quickly for those special events. Last week a Camp Thunderbird packing list and information went home. Just over a week until camp!
- We have been enjoying working with tools, learning about simple machines, and creating projects. We noticed that we need an old shirt to keep in the class for when we are painting/staining. Students are invited to bring one in and keep it on their hook when we are working on messy projects.
Math: We are having a special week on graphing with our student teacher, Ms. Gilchrist. We are learning about different types of graphs, reading them for information, and creating graphs such as pictographs, bar graphs, and double-bar graphs.
Tech Tuesday: We are ready for our second project. We have another simple project but will be learning some new tools in our cart. All students have been so good about making the connections between the tools and simple machines. Thank you to our guest teachers who have been coming to support us with the tools.
Physical Education: Games week outside all week!
Science: This week we will continue to learn about simple machines in the class. So far we have explored the inclined plane, wedge, screw, and wheel and axle. The last two we'll add this week is the lever and the pulley.
Spelling: Unit 17 focuses on the /ou/ sounds that can be spelling 'ou' as in mouthful or 'ow' as in coward.
