  • Thank you for sending in indoor shoes last week. Our classroom floors are much cleaner!
  • Trail Walk on Wednesday. Parents are welcome to join us from 8:50-9:20am.
  • Fun Lunch is on Friday.
  • Skating with our buddies is coming up on Tuesday, January 22nd. Thank you for the forms that have already come in. Please have them in by Friday if you haven't. We are looking forward to some parents joining us. We will be leaving after lunch by 12:20pm.

Here's what we're up to in class:

  • Math: This week we continue to work on addition and subtraction strategies through estimation.
  • Art: We have an Artist-in-Residence, Mrs. Nancy Alexander, with us one more week. Last week she taught us some clay slab skills. This week they'll be painting their creations. We can't wait to see how they turn out!
  • Writing Studio: To go along with our clay slab tiles, we are planning a fantasy story. This week we will plan the setting and start to write our beginning and middle including some adventures, problems, and conflicts.
  • Typing: To get ready for all of that typing for our fantasy stories, we are working on typing efficiently. Today students logged in to typing.com and started with home row. Their usernames and passwords are glued into the front of their agendas. They are welcome to do extra practice at home.
  • Reading Studio: In preparation for our fantasy story we will also be exploring potential themes during our reading block. This week we will look at the themes of acceptance, courage, perseverance, and cooperation. Ask your child if the book they are currently reading explores any of these themes.
  • GymThis week is our first week for basketball skills. Students are very excited to work on their dribbling skills this week.
  • Science: We are currently studying natural resources. Our big idea explores how Earth materials change as they move through the rock cycle and can be used as natural resources. We will also explore the nature of sustainable practices around BC’s resource and look at First Peoples knowledge of sustainable practices.
