French: Madame Dalziel is reminding students who still need to present to wear their special clothes for their presentation tomorrow, Tuesday.

Spelling: Our next unit focuses on adding suffixes and endings to words ending in 'y'. When a final 'y' follows a consonant, we change the 'y' to an 'i' before adding the suffix or ending, unless adding the ending -ing, as in worry, worried, worrier, and worrying. When a final 'y' follows a vowel, we just add the suffix or ending as in obey, obeyed, and obeying.

Math: We are finished with division and moving on to fractions and decimals for the next couple of weeks. Grade 4s will be working on decimals to hundredths, addition and subtraction of decimals to hundredths, as well as ordering and comparing fractions. Grade 5s will be extending decimals to thousandths, addition and subtraction of decimals to thousandths, look at equivalent fractions, as well as whole-number, fraction, and decimal benchmarks.

Gym: This week we start a mini unit on running track in preparation for the track meet. Students will be running 100m, 200m, 400m, as well as the relay.

Reading Studio: Students have been working hard on their novel brochures. Some students have finished their novels and are working on their brochures. Others continue to read and pause every chapter to fill in summaries on their brochure.

Science/Computers: We are finished our research on biomes and have started to use the information from our inquiry to plan our video game. This week we are finishing our coding challenges in preparation for beginning to code our own video game. This week we are working through our Game Design Booklet, brainstorming a title, rating, explanation of our game, characters, setting, obstacles, introduction, levels, and conclusion. We are creating a title page and will write a game summary story in the form of a paragraph.
