Upcoming Reminders and/or Events:
- Last week before the winter break! Please let me know if your family is leaving early for the holidays. I will be sending home their inside shoes and water bottles so everything can get a good clean before coming back. We are back at school on Monday, January 8, 2018.
- Trail Walk is on Wednesday. Parents are welcome to join us!
- Thursday, December 21st: Grade 3-5 winter concert 1:30pm in the Lochside gym. Come early for a seat! Students are expected to wear nice concert clothes for the performance.
- Friday is our Grade 4/5 swim trip to Commonwealth. Please bring a bathing suit, towel, and a hairbrush. We are leaving Lochside by bus at 12:00 and back by 2:30pm.
Writing Studio: We are finishing up our Gingerbread House Descriptive writing activity. We have to design a gingerbread bread house and are putting it up for sale! We are the realtor and have to design a pamphlet with a drawing our of house and a detailed description to attract potential buyers. We are learning to use specific adjectives and vivid verbs in our writing.
Math Studio: In our extra time this week we will be working on problem solving strategies.
Science: To finish up our unit on the motions of the earth and moon, we will be looking at tides and how they affect living and non-living things.
Art: We will be working on a number of special projects this week for the holiday.
