Dear Lochside families,

Please join us on Wednesday at 6 pm in the staff room for our monthly LEPAC meeting.  These meetings are a great opportunity to hear from the Principal and learn about what’s happening at Lochside. Childminding is available, and all parents are welcome to attend.

There are a number of parent information evenings coming up in the Saanich region:

a) Feb 16th at 6:30pm in the Lochside School library.  The topic is ‘Electronic Media and Young Children: Positive and Negative Effects on Development', presented by Dr. Ulrich Mueller.  See the attached for more details. Seats are still available, please reserve your space at the following link.

b) Feb. 22nd from 7-9pm at SJ Willis Educational Centre. Children of the Street Society presents Adolescent Sexual Behaviour in a Digital World (open to SD61, 62, 63 for parents/guardians of Grade 5-12 students).  Follow this link for more information and to register.

c) March 1st, from 6:30-8:30 at the Saanich Fairgrounds. The Saanich Peninsula Local Action Team is hosting an education evening focused on Healthy Relationships for Youth (middle and secondary). There will be guests specializing in supporting youth in sexuality, on-line media, and gender identity to help guide discussions. The evening will be broken into two sections: an information sharing and a panel discussion. In addition to the above guests, the panel will also include a member of the Island Sexual Health Youth Committee and a Counsellor(s) from SD63. More information can be found here.

Do you have a Thrifty Foods Smile Card in your purse or wallet? Please consider loading your card and using it regularly!  We can earn up to $3000 through the Smile Card program this year which will be used for technology items in the school such as tablets and smart boards.  If you have a card from a previous school year, you can continue using it and supporting Lochside students!
