Important Dates and/or Reminders:
- Last week for Cultural Suitcases! Thank you to those families who have already sent in their cultural 'suitcases.' We have loved hearing the stories of our ancestors and mapping where families have come from prior to Canada.
- Lochside Trail walk is on Wednesday, weather permitting. Feel free to join us by signing up here.
- Grade 4s will be completing FSAs this week.
- Grade 5 parents, mark your calendars: Camp Thunderbird meeting is Tuesday, Feb.7 from 6-6:30pm in the Lochside Library.
- Pink Shirt Day order forms went home today. Money is due on February 10th.
- We have space in the computer lab in the morning for Reflex Math. If your child could use some extra practice, our lab is open at 8:00am every morning and is supervised by an EA. Let me know if your child would like to use this time to practice their facts and I can put their name on the list.
Spelling
- Unit 18 is a review week.
Numeracy
- While Grade 4s complete their FSAs, Grade 5s will be working on transformations with polygons. Today we learned what a translation, reflection, and rotation is. Ask your Grade 5 which ones flips, slides, and turns.
Social Studies
- We finished learning a story of one immigration group and will fill in our passport with the other stories our peers have researched. We noticed a lot of groups came in the late 1800s. We will learn about why and look into the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Gold Rush.
Gym
- This week we are learning about the rules in basketball with some game play. Next week is our tournament.
