Wednesday September 16th marks this year’s first meeting of the Lochside Elementary Parent Advisory Council from 6:00-7:30pm in the staff room. All are welcome to attend and childminding will be available. These monthly meetings are a great opportunity for parents to hear from school administration and the LEPAC executive. At this month’s meeting, our Treasurer will provide a financial update and a review of financial processes. We would welcome your attendance and your questions at this meeting.
The Welcome Back BBQ is this Thursday, Sept 17th - rain or shine. The event takes place from 5:30-7:00pm with a recognition ceremony for the opening of the new Outdoor Learning Centre at 6:45pm.
The Outdoor Learning Centre is almost complete. If there are any handy people out there willing to help Monday during the day or evening, please call or text Ivica Kalabric at 250-217-9381.
Information is ready to be stapled into packages and put into children's backpacks. This is happening at 8:45am this coming Monday the 14th. We need four more people to make this job go smoothly. Probably no longer than an hour. Please email Mary at lepacvolunteers@gmail.com if you can help.
If you are a parent of a young child learning to read, or you have a child who is a reluctant reader, join Dr. Orla Colgate on September 24th 7-8pm at Bruce Hutchinson Library for a short, but powerful, session on how children learn to read, how you can best assist your child at home, and how you can create a home environment that encourages all learning.
