Some children may end up in multiage  (combined grades) classes in September 2015.  In fact all of our grade 4 and 5 students are in multiage classes. To learn more about multiage classes, please join us on Wednesday, May 20th at 5:00 pm in the Lochside Elementary Library.

The development of the most effective organizational structures, within the resources available, often includes this option as one of a variety for student placements.  We do this with confidence knowing that this does not compromise the quality of our students’ educational experience.

§  Research about the learning that occurs in multi-age classes, and our own experience over the years, is clear and consistent.  Students in multi-age classes:

-  do as well or better than students in single grade classrooms in all academic areas

- excel in social areas including independence, study habits and a positive attitude toward school
