Hello Families,
We are off to a busy start this school year! Tuesday, January 27th is Family Literacy Day. Teachers at Lochside have decided to invite parents/guardians in to read in their classrooms from 8:40- 9:10. We look forward to seeing all of you who are able to join us.

Below are some links that include some useful information about ways to support student learning:

Reading Rockets is a national multimedia literacy initiative offering information and resources on how young kids learn to read, why some may struggle, and how caring adults can help.

15 Minutes of Fun

A For the Love of Reading event is scheduled to take place in our library on February 10th and February 11th. For this event, each student has been asked to bring in a book from home that is in good condition and appropriate for students at our school by Friday, January 30th. On February 10th and 11th each student will come to the library to select a “new to them” book to take home. It would be helpful if you could help your child select a book to bring in. If this poses a hardship, we will have some extra books available. The goal is that every child has a book to take home!

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards,
Cindy Heppell
