Entertainment Book orders and unsold books must be returned no later than Thursday September 26th.  Make cheques payable to LEPAC and please use the ‘Turn-In Envelope’ and bring into the classroom.  Each book sold contributes $15 towards the school.  To be entered in the draw for the Gorilla in the office window, orders must be in by Thursday; the draw will take place October 4th.   Thank you for supporting this fundraiser!

Fun Lunch info went home last week.  The information is attached if you did not receive it and paper copies are outside the office.  Remember to remit the order form and payment (cash or cheque payable to LEPAC) and return to classrooms.  One cheque per family is fine – just ensure the remittance forms are attached.

Do you want to be a classroom rep for your child’s class? If you haven’t signed up already, please email Mary at lepacvolunteers@gmail.com.  There can certainly be more than one rep per class as duties can be split up.

Lochside is registered with COBBS Royal Oak again this year so every time you make a purchase mention you are with Lochside and a portion of your purchase will be donated to the school.

The school’s skip-a-thon is happening this week and information will be coming home as to how you can support your child in raising money for Cops for Cancer.  The school needs several parent volunteers to help through the day, morning or afternoon, or both to support the skip-a-thon.  We also need some helpers to prepare and distribute grapes (bring scissors) on Thursday morning right after drop-off in the staff room.  Please email Mary to volunteer at lepacvolunteers@gmail.com to help out.

Thanks to Thrifty Foods Broadmead for donating $100 towards grapes for the skip-a-thon event.

If you would like to help put the Grade Five Yearbook together over the course of the school year, please contact Kathryn at watnotte.kat@gmail.com.

Please note, as per School District Policy, that ALL dogs must be on leash on the school grounds between 8am and 4pm school days.

If your child will be absent and is not registered with Morning Watch please let your child’s teacher know directly via email, or you can phone the office at 250-658-5238.  If your child is registered with Morning Watch, you can just email Morning Watch at lochsidesafearrival@sd63.bc.ca. Teachers’ emails are their first initial and last name @sd63.bc.ca with the exception of S Kenny who is stephkenny@sd63.bc.ca.

Volunteer Needs: Lochside needs parent volunteers for the year to help out with: 1) Lost and Found and 2) Earthquake Preparedness.  Please email our volunteer coordinator, Mary Brookes at lepacvolunteers@gmail.com if you are able to help with either of these roles. Thank You!

LEPAC is looking for interested parents to join in on committees: we currently have 4 committees: Healthy Schools, Budget, Constitution Review, and Courtyard. Please email lochsidepac@sd63.bc.ca for more information or to join.

Lochside runners for the Thrifty Foods Kids Run must be registered by September 27th to get a team t-shirt and be included in our official count, sign up here: http://www.runvictoriamarathon.com/events/register.php.

2013-2014 Emergency Preparedness: Each month we are going to tell you one item to buy and stock in your emergency preparedness kit. The goal is that all of our Lochside families have full emergency preparedness kits by the end of the school year!  September is water.  It is recommended that for each person you have 3 litres of water per day for 3 days = for each person, you should have 9 litres of water. It is recommended that you buy store bought water because filling any container can lead to bacterial growth.

Reminders for the week:

  • Wednesday September 25th: Walking Wheeling Wednesday
  • Thursday September 26th: Entertainment orders due
  • Friday September 27th: NID – no school
