Welcome to the weekly newsletter and Happy December to you. smile We have 4 important updates to share with you today...
*******

1) Purdy's sorting and delivery - THANK YOU!

  • Thank you to everyone who ordered and to the last-minute volunteers who sorted all the treats on Friday, December 1st!
  • Look out for orders coming home with your child Friday, December 8th or pickup in the office.

2) Book Shop - We are URGENTLY still accepting book donations, and need more volunteers!!

The Holiday Bookshop is happening Thursday, Dec. 7th and Friday Dec. 8th!

Holiday Bookshop 2023
Children will visit the holiday bookshop and select books for immediate family members for a suggested donation of $2. Half of the proceeds will be given to the Mustard Seed and half will go to LEPAC.

What we need:

  • Donations of gently used books appropriate for all ages up to adults. Please ensure books are of suitable content.
  • Wrapping paper, gift tags and tape
  • Bring to the front office - there will be a sign in front of Admin where the items can be left

Volunteer Sign-Up:

The Holiday Bookshop is looking for volunteers to help replenish and wrap books. We are looking for 5 volunteers per shift to help in the multi-purpose room. Just a reminder all volunteers must have a valid criminal record check on file with the school, but we welcome all volunteers including grandparents and caregivers.

3) Food Drive - Monday, Dec 4 to Friday, Dec 15

Help Us Fill the House with donations for our community hampers and our local food bank, The Mustard Seed. Our food drive will run from December 4 - 15.

This year the Mustard Seed’s Wishlist Includes:

  • Sources of protein like peanut butter, canned fish and meat

  • Healthy nonperishables like cereal, beans, pasta, canned vegetables and fruit

  • Feminine hygiene products, toothpaste and toilet paper

Action Items:

  1. To help ensure our hampers get a nice even assortment of items, we thought it would be easiest to break some essentials down by class divisions. We hope this will make it easier for you in deciding what to include in your food drive donation.

  2. Please have your child colour and cut out the gingerbread man and return to the box located outside the office. They will be used to decorate our school!

Here is the link to view the gingerbread man and other important details about donating. Thank you!

Volunteers needed for hamper sorting and delivery:

  • Every year Lochside families work hard to collect food and build holiday hampers for our school community. This year we are seeking volunteers for Monday, Dec 18 and Tuesday, Dec 19.
