Hello, Lochside community! We're back with another weekly update. So, let's dive right in...

*Important/Urgent Reminder(s)*

>>> Halloween is coming... Costumes OK Tuesday!!! <<<

In Case You Missed It...

Students are invited to wear their costumes to school on Tuesday, October 31.

  • Please ensure that costumes are suitable for learning all day: ie: comfortable to sit in, participate in gym & play at recess outside.
  • Please also ensure that your child is not wearing a costume face mask or bringing costume accessories such as swords etc.
  • Students are welcome to wear black and orange if they would prefer to not wear a costume.
  • Please note that costumes have the potential to get dirty/wrecked if worn during the day at school.
  • We will not be making accommodations during the day to avoid these circumstances.

On October 30th, our School Liaison Officer will be facilitating two Hallowe’en Safety assemblies:

  • one for K-3 students and a second for Grade 4 & 5 students.

Parents, please ensure that your child does not bring more than one or two treats to school in their lunch following Hallowe’en.

>>> *Nov 13* Join us for our Royals Hockey Fundraiser <<<

Friendly reminder that our Royals Hockey Game is coming up soon!

[Safe Arrival]

  • Reminder that late students are to sign in at the office if they arrive at school late. If it’s a planned late arrival, you can email the Lochside absences email: lochside_attendance@saanichschools.ca and then sign in to the front desk once back at school;

  • Parking lot: Please leave any STAFF identified stalls vacant when visiting the school for any reason;

  • Rithetwood Drive and Lochside Drive:  A concerned community member wrote to let us know that she has witnessed a lot of cars speeding up and down Rithetwood Drive, as it is a popular shortcut and drop off/pickup location.  There are no sidewalks, several blind corners and lots of school-aged kids who walk and play.  Please drive slowly on the side streets during pickup/drop off times.

[SD63 News]

The ministry has provided school districts with funding to support food programs for students who are in need during the school day (options and availability will vary from school to school).

By completing the form at the link below, you can request food support for your student.

This information will be shared with school administration who will keep it confidential.

We did it! This past Thursday, Oct 26, 5-730pm was Lochside's Halloween Fair...

The kids had an abundance of things to get into, from cupcakes, to pumpkins, to food and dancing!

THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped make this event a huge success and to LEPAC for their collaboration to organize such a monster massive experience. And, thank you to all the parents/guardians who came along to join the fun.

Let's do it again next year! smile

4) Class Room Rep (2023-2024)

There are still some classes looking for volunteers to become a class room representative for your children’s classroom.  A class rep is a parent or guardian who works hand in hand with the classroom teacher, Lochside PAC and parents to ensure all information is shared.  This is an amazing way to get you know your child’s teacher and other parents/guardians in the class. A class rep also helps organize helpers within the class when needed.  Some of the duties of the class rep are:

*creation of a class communication list

*responsible for emailing information from teacher or LEPAC

*attend monthly LEPAC meeting (when possible) to keep up to date on upcoming events

Interested in becoming a class rep? Please use the following link to sign up:  bit.ly/classrep2023

Thank you, volunteers! smile

[FUNDRAISERS]

Thank you so much for helping LEPAC reach our fundraising goals! Please note: we have a lot of offerings this Fall to choose from.  However, don't feel obligated to do it all! smile  We are rolling out events and activities with various levels of cost to try to accommodate as many of our community members as possible.  Just choose one or more activities that are accessible for your family.
