Upcoming Reminders and/or Events:
- We are loving this snowy weather! Please help your child come to school with appropriate warm clothing to play outside in. An extra pair of socks and pants are always a great idea just in case we get too wet/muddy.
- Trail Walk is on Wednesday this week from 8:50-9:20am. Families are welcome to join us!
- Scholastic orders went home today. Please have your orders in by next Monday. You can look up Lochside and Miss Norris on the Scholastic site and pay by credit card or send in a cheque to the class. Cash is not accepted.
What are we working on in class?
- Math: We are starting our multiplication/division unit. This week we are focusing on tips and tricks for remembering our basic facts. I encouraged the kids to use Reflex Math or flashcards at least once per week to help them memorize these facts up to 10x10. This week we will also be starting a geometry unit with Ms. Ammaturo for the month of January and February.
- Writing: We are focusing on a paragraph of the week activity and writing about a trip. We are starting with an engaging beginning, including 3 details and explanations, and ensuring we have good punctuation and spelling.
- Gym: This week we are starting to practice our basketball skills.
- Reading: We are starting to explore themes in literature. In the next couple of weeks we will be introduced to different themes and encouraged to look for the theme in the books we are reading.
- Social Studies: On Friday we will be launching our Two Worlds Meet project. This exciting project will have us gathering with the other Grade 4/5 classes for learning together. We can't wait!
