IMPORTANT - Welcome Back Message from Lochside Administration
by Kitlin Louie - Monday, 18 November 2019, 10:16 AM

Dear Lochside Parents and Guardians,

I want to warmly welcome you back to school, although acknowledging that the past few weeks have been very difficult for our community.  At Lochside one of our school's beliefs is we take care of one another. Moving forward, our aim is to come together as a caring and healthy community as we fully place our attention on helping our students learn and grow.

Our main focus in the first week is to re-establish routines and normal operations as quickly as possible. There may be some adjustments to our school and classroom calendars of activities, so that we can minimize interruptions to class time.

Typically at this time of year there are a number of special guests and activities planned that bring strong value to our students’ engagement and learning.  For example teachers have organized field trips, author visits and outdoor education experiences. We will re-schedule some of these in order to create uninterrupted time in class for teachers to reconnect and for students to feel settled and secure in their routines.  Your child’s classroom teacher will keep you informed about any changes to planned activities.

Also in the spirit of prioritizing class time, the following dates have been moved.

Please note:

  • our Early Dismissal dates originally scheduled this week on Nov. 19th and 20th, will be moved to new dates, to be determined in consultation with our staff.

  • the Nov. 22nd Non-instructional Day has been deferred - we will be in school this Friday.

Please note that first term progress report cards will come home by December 19th.

Please don’t hesitate to connect with Ms. Norris or myself with any questions you may have.

Warmly,

Joan O’Leary &  Sherisse Norris

Acting Principal  & Interim Vice Principal
