Dear Lochside families,

Pink Shirts for Sale

Lochside's annual Kindness Campaign is coming soon and to mark Pink Shirt Day on February 22nd, we are selling Lochside Lizard Pink Shirts.  Monies raised through t-shirt orders will go towards LEPAC initiatives supporting students. Youth t-shirts are $7.00 and adult sizes are $10.00-$15.00.  Order forms (attached) and payment are due by 9:00am on February 10th. Please make cheques payable to LEPAC.

Camp Thunderbird Information

There is an information meeting for grade 5 parents about Camp Thunderbird on Tuesday at 6pm at the school.

Parent Information Night

Lochside is hosting a Parent Information Night on February 16th beginning at 6:30pm in the library.  The topic is ‘Electronic Media and Young Children: Positive and Negative Effects on Development', presented by Dr. Ulrich Mueller.  See the attached for more details. Collaborative Problem Solving Webinar

The F.O.R.C.E. Society for Kids Mental Health is hosting a webinar on Collaborative Problem Solving followed by a parent discussion.

Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) is a method of conflict resolution that was originally developed for working with very difficult children. CPS is excellent when parenting teens and children with ADHD, Anxiety and many other mental health issues that are generating conflict and disagreements.  

This webinar features presenter Ross Robinson M.Ed who describes why and how we use Collaborative Problem Solving, and FORCE parents Karen Copeland and Victoria Keddis who share examples of how they have used this model with their own children.

McMinn Park Public Event

The District of Saanich, Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a second public event on Tuesday, February 21 at Lochside Elementary School between 4 – 8pm regarding McMinn Park.


Draft concept plans will be made available; they reflect the feedback received from the first event, from the associated online survey, and from visits to various schools. Feedback from the event on the 21st will be used to finalize a plan for the park.


This is an open house and people may drop in anytime between 4 - 8pm, pre-registration not required. An online survey will run from Feb 21-March 7. More information can be found at saanich.ca/parks.

World Cups Youth Festival

The World Cups Youth Festival is taking place April 14-15, 2017.  This festival has been an important, community youth sporting event in Victoria for over 30 years. There is an opportunity for Lochside to win $1000 if our school has the most students registered.  More information and registration can be found here.
